Thursday Morning Fire Damages Vacant House

The Chattanooga Fire Department received a residential fire alarm today at 7:53 a.m. and responded to 228 Hillside Dr. with five fire companies. 

Captain Keith Liles said light smoke and flames were visible from the basement, and quickly spreading to adjacent rooms.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, preventing further damage to the vacant house. There were condemnation signs posted on the vacant house; however, nearby neighbors advised there were random occupants and vehicles occasionally at the condemned property. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Damages are estimated at approximately $2,000.
