John Calhoun Eagar, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 in Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. He was the son of John Calhoun Eagar, Sr. and Ann Arcady Eagar.

John was born in Chattanooga on April 4, 1958.  He graduated Notre Dame High School, Chattanooga, in 1976.  He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1981 earning a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.  John was an associate partner with Syska Hennessy Group, Atlanta office.  He was an active member of Atlanta Chapter of Society of Fire Protection Engineers. He was a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Dunwoody where he served as an elder and session member.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Eagar, daughter, Laura Ann Eagar and stepdaughter Julie Postma; sisters Catherine (Jim) Robbins, Chattanooga, Betsy Eagar, Mobile, AL, Susan (Bob) Evans, Charlotte, NC; nephews Emmett (Ipo) Evans, Jay Evans and great niece Elizabeth Ann Evans and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Eagar, Sr and Ann Eagar; grandparents Calhoun and Gertrude Eagar; grandmother Floyd Estill McMahon.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Dunwoody, Ga.  Burial will follow that day at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chattanooga at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
