Ethellynn Carter, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, in the Alexian Health and Rehab.

She graduated in 1964 from Central High School in Alabama.  She was a certified nursing assistant at The Health Center at Standifer Place.  Ethellynn was a faithful member at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her spouse, William K. Carter; parents, Harry and Mattie Lou Hampton; brothers, LeRoy Hampton, Emmitt Hampton, and Richard Hampton; sisters, Helen Williams, Amy Garner, and Lena Horne. 

Survivors include her son, William L. (Regina Battle) Carter; daughter, Dana S. Carter; brothers, Harry (Katie) Hampton and Robert (Margie) Hampton of Athens, Al.; sisters, Delois McDonald of Leighton, AL, Christine (Elvin) Webb of Dallas; two grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

She will lie in state on Friday, April 6, after 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Anthony Williams as the eulogist. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
