Carrie Ramsey
Carrie Lee Evrett Ramsey, 91, a longtime resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in a local hospital surrounded by her family.
Carrie Lee was born in Etowah, on June 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Ransom and Lillie Evrett. Carrie Lee was a longtime devoted member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church and currently a member of Phillipi Baptist Church. She used her great knowledge of the Bible to lead Sunday school classes for many years. Carrie Lee was also a gifted musician who played for the family gospel group for many years as well as a vocal trainer for many students. During her musical career she and her late husband Jim co-founded "Joy Makers." They enjoyed playing in local nursing homes and churches. Carrie Lee will be most remembered however for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took great pride in taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ramsey, a special grandson Ryan Ramsey who shared the same love of music that his Mammaw did. She is also preceded in death by two sisters Thelma Legg and Juanita Kile and one brother R. L. Evrett.
Carrie Lee leaves behind to cherish her memory, son Kenneth R. Ramsey and his wife Renee of Calhoun, daughters, Janice Jones and her husband Mark of Knoxville, Libby Green and her husband Billy of Cleveland; grandchildren, Heather Cox, Brandon Jones, and his wife Leah, Drew Jones, Haylie Lingerfelt and her husband Brandon, Alex Green, Ryan Adams, and Tyler Adams. Great grandchildren: Kaylyn Cox, Kendrick Cox, Aiden Jones, Anna Kate Jones and Abbie Adams, her special companion “Tinker”, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be on Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m. at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church at 2412 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, Tn. 37311, with the Reverend Sammy Hooker, the Reverend Gary Moats and grandson Brandon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. service time.
The interment will take place in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. The funeral procession will leave Clingan Ridge Baptist Church parking lot at 1:45 PM. Her grandsons Brandon Jones, Drew Jones, Alex Green, Ryan Adams, Tyler Adams, Kendrick Cox and Brandon Lingerfelt will serve as pallbearers.
Nephews serving as honorary pallbearers are Joe Legg, Jerry Evrett, Charles Kile, David Ramsey, Paul Clark and Larry Hall.
The family would like to thank all the staff and her special friends at Garden Plaza of Cleveland for the excellent care and companionship they gave Carrie Lee during the past year.
