Judge Rules For John Shackleford In Suit Brought By Catherine White Over Political Signs

  • Tuesday, October 9, 2018
A Dunlap judge has ruled for John Shackleford in a small claims lawsuit brought against him by attorney Catherine White.

Judge Tommy Austin was assigned the case after local judges recused themselves.

Ms. White, who ran unsuccessfully for Circuit Court judge, said she paid Mr. Shackleford to place 150 campaign signs for her at $15 each.

She said she believes he only put out 112 of the signs.

Mr. Shackleford, who has put out campaign signs for a number of candidates over the years, said he posted all the White signs except for 11 that were kept in reserve. He said political signs often get stolen or taken down by property owners or sign inspectors.

At the close of the testimony, Judge Austin said he ruled "for the defense."
