Darol Watkins, 58, Arrested For Dec. 22 Shooting On Anderson Avenue; Victim Said He Was Protecting Female

Darol Jerome Watkins, 58, was arrested on Wednesday for a shooting that happened on Anderson Avenue on Dec. 22.

Watkins is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment. 

 

Arriving officers found Calvin Peterson with a single gunshot wound to the left cheek.

He said Watkins was the shooter.

 

Peterson said Watkins and a female had been in an altercation in a rear room at the residence. He said as the argument became physical he tried to intervene. He said he grabbed Watkins from behind.

 

He said Watkins spun out of his grasp and fired one shot at him. 

 

Watkins fled and Peterson was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

The female gave a similar account.
