EPB recognizes BASF for its commitment to Chattanooga’s environmental and sustainability goals by being the leading purchaser of renewable energy through the TVA Green Power Switch Southeastern Renewable Energy Credit program.

Since making the TVA Green Power Switch, 100 percent of the BASF Polymer and Amnicola   facilities’ electric power is sourced from Midwestern-region wind generation, which solidifies the company’s position as the top purchaser of sustainable, 100 percent clean power in EPB’s service area, officials said.

“We are proud of the great strides BASF has taken as a leading community partner to align with Chattanooga’s environmental stewardship goals, “said EPB president and CEO David Wade. “We believe BASF serves as a role model for responsible corporate citizenship and sustainable business practices that will benefit Chattanooga for generations to come.”

"The environmental benefits realized from BASF’s switch to clean, sustainable energy can be valued in several ways; either powering 1,707 homes for a year, or avoiding the carbon emissions from burning 17.2-million pounds of coal or from driving 38.7-million miles in an average four-door sedan," officials said.

“Using renewable energy drives sustainable solutions to improve quality of life for our world’s growing population,” said Robert Gagliano, BASF’s site director in Chattanooga. ”Our participation in the Green Power Switch program also supports BASF’s purpose of creating chemistry for a sustainable future.”
