Elizabeth Ashley Cates, 30, was released from her earthly struggles and called home on Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Ashley was born in Chattanooga, on Nov. 3, 1986, and grew up in Crossville, Tn., where she was a 2005 graduate of Cumberland County High School. Upon graduating, she followed her brother back down to Chattanooga to carve out a life for herself. She worked various jobs through the years around the city, in the hotel and banking industry, until she landed at Wichman Monuments five years ago working with the sales team. She will be remembered for her sarcastic humor (lovingly passed down from her mother), witty responses (lovingly passed down from her father), bad Spice Girls karaoke impressions and her big heart for animals.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William L. Cates, Jr., Peggy L. Cates, Roy J. Payne, Linda L. Payne, uncle, Barry L. Cates and aunt, Teresa Cates.

She is survived by her parents, William L. Cates III (Lisa) of Crossville, Janice A. Mosteller (Tim), brother, Matthew David Cates (Taylor) of Chattanooga and sister, Brandy Cates of Nashville, along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4- p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
