Carolyn Jackson
Carolyn Ann Jackson, 75, passed away on May 2, 2017.
Carolyn was formerly the Hamilton County Administrator of Elections, and worked in various capacities with the election commission for over 20 years. She loved her community and was very active, serving on many boards and committees locally and nationally, including the City of Chattanooga's Community Development Advisory Board starting with Mayor Gene Roberts administration. She was on the founding board of directors of the of the Chattanooga Womens Leadership Institute. Carolyn held other board memberships including the Westside Community Development Corporation, Signal Centers, and others. She was a faithful member of Stanley United Methodist Church until her health began to decline.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Clarissa Jackson; parents, Carl and Ora Jackson; sisters, Evelyn Jackson McKibben and Mildred Andrews; brother, Jerry (Laverne) Jackson.
She is survived by her sons, Edgar Love and Jonathan Jackson; granddaughter, Shanna Love; sister, Beverly Johnson; brothers, Clary "Sonny" Jackson and Michael Jackson; Special caregivers, nieces Wiletta Moorer and Carla Jackson; other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Reverend Elston McLain officiating.
The body will lie in state after noon on May 4, and the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
