Inmate Dies After Medical Emergency At The Hamilton County Jail

An in-custody death occurred involving an inmate at the Hamilton County Jail on Thursday morning.
 
According to preliminary reports, Jeffery Jerome Simmons, 44, experienced a medical emergency and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
 
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is investigating the circumstances of the death.

He was in jail on a charge of domestic assault.
