On Thursday, the National Rifle Association released their endorsements of primary candidates and gave an A rating to District 29 Tennessee State Representative Mike Carter along with the organization’s endorsement.
"Widely recognized today as a major political force and as America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the NRA has, since its inception in 1871, been the premier firearms education organization in the world," jofficials said.
The NRA had this to say about Representative Carter, “Solidly pro-gun candidate.
A candidate who has supported NRA positions on key votes in elective office.”
After receiving the endorsement from the NRA Rep. Carter said, “I am honored to have received this recognition, the NRA stands strongly and firmly in defense of our constitutional rights. I am proud to be a teammate and proud to hold the endorsement of the NRA.”
As a life member of the NRA, Rep. Carter is an avid sportsman and gun owner. Having voted for constitutional carry in Tennessee twice, Rep. Carter has said, “The 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution is your license to carry a firearm, and I will, as I have done at every opportunity before, support Rep. Micah Van Huss’s open carry legislation when he brings it back to the State House in Tennessee.”
The NRA had this to say about Rep. Carter’s opponent, “He refused to answer the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire, often an indication of indifference, if not outright hostility, to gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights.”
