Jacob Berry, 26, and Tyler Richardson, 20, beat Lester “Jimmy” Cawood, 73, unconscious with a cooking pot before stealing his wallet and car on Saturday, police said.

Berry and Richardson were arrested on Monday and charged with especially aggravated robbery after the victim spoke to police. Mr. Cawood said he was familiar with both young men and that they had come over to his house to hang out on the evening of the incident, not for the first time.

Officers said Mr. Cawood suffered multiple lacerations to his head, a broken nose, and a broken arm during the attack. They said his Toyota 4Runner was found at the Walmart in Fort Oglethorpe.

Berry and Richardson both admitted to being the only ones at the victim’s house on Saturday evening, departing alone in the victim’s vehicle, and leaving it at the Walmart, police said. The suspects did not, however, admit to beating Mr. Cawood.
