-Chattanooga Mocs rising sophomores Lake Johnson and Etienne Brault tee off Monday sectional qualifying for the 116th United States Open at two separate sites. The duo plays 36 holes for one of the coveted spots advancing to the toughest major.
Johnson is headed to Memphis where Germantown and Ridgeway Country Clubs await. Brault, who had to leave the Quebec Match Play Championship after getting the call that his alternate spot was confirmed, is at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio,
Johnson and Brault are the only current Mocs in sectionals, but not the only Mocs.
Alum Derek Rende (2007-10) is also in the Memphis field. Rende claimed his first pro event in March capturing the Lexus Panama Classic.
Current Web.com Tour professional Stephan Jaeger just completed play this weekend at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship tying for 11th. Jaeger, the 36-hole leader after a scintillating second round 62 (-10), shot -17 for the four days.
