Ashley Denise McKenzie, 20, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, June 13, 2016 in a local hospital. 

 She was born on July 7, 1995, and was the beloved daughter of Terry and Veronica McKenzie.  Ms. McKenzie was a member of the National Guard, and belonged to the 230th Sustainment Brigade in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She was employed by “Footaction” within Hamilton Place Mall, as an assistant manager.  At an early age, Ashley attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and later joined the New Sholar Avenue Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother; Gwendolyn M. Sledge.

She is survived by her father, Terry M. McKenzie; mother, Veronica Lynn McKenzie; brother, Victor M. McKenzie; maternal grandmother, Jannie M. Harden; paternal grandfather, Bill (Dorothy) McKenzie; aunts, Tuwanda Walker; Tara (Catrelle) Henderson; Erica (Michael) Gordon; uncles, Hershel Walker III; Brian Stone; loving cousins, Dewun Harper, Jr., Devida Bone, Chardonnay Caslin; and three devoted and caring friends that were like sisters, Keaira Colbert, Aleshia Colbert, and Treasure Strickland; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

 She will lie in state on Thursday, June 23, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 24, at noon in the chapel with Pastor Kenneth Ware as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
