Lawrence Peterson, 64, was arrested on Monday after witnesses said he pinned a woman between his car and a tow truck.

The incident occurred on April 22 at Glenwood Parkway.

The property manager told police she witnessed one of her tenants, Peterson, punching at a group of people who had a tow truck backed up to his vehicle.

The parties involved, including victim Shana Russ, said they were part of a repossession company and were attempting to repossess a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic from Peterson. They told police they attempted to make contact with Peterson to allow him to retrieve his personal belongings from the car, but he did not come to the door when they knocked.

As they were in the process of repossessing the vehicle, they said Peterson came out of the building yelling and began pushing them away. They told police the suspect got in his car, started it, and floored it into reverse, slamming into the bed of the roll-back trailer.

They said this was when Ms. Russ became pinned between the two vehicles.

Police were told that after this Peterson drove onto the grass and into the building, tearing the gutter off before fleeing.

Officers said Peterson called dispatch, reporting that someone had attempted to carjack him, and that he was headed back to Glenwood Parkway. He did not return.

Peterson has been charged with aggravated assault, false reports, reckless endangerment, vandalism/malicious mischief, and two counts of assault.
