Side B Saxophone Quartet

Side B Saxophone Quartet performs at UTC on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Cadek Recital Hall, and is free and open to the public.

Included on the program is the work Galapagos Lions for solo baritone saxophone, by Jonathan McNair of the UTC Music faculty. Works by Eugene Bozza, Ryo Noda, Alfred Desenclos, and the legendary Karlheinz Stockhausen will also be featured.

The Side B Saxophone Quartet is comprised of four juniors from Bowling Green State University (Ohio).  The ensemble was formed in 2013 and has been active in community and collegiate concerts and workshops throughout Ohio and the Midwest.  Although they specialize in contemporary music, the ensemble plays all styles of saxophone literature.  The Side B Quartet was recently honored as a semi-finalist for their performance in the 2016 Douglas Wayland Chamber Music Competition.

This concert is sponsored by the Ruth S. Holmberg Professor of American Music at UTC and Clint Schmitt, and is presented by the Department of Music.
