Cleveland High School Lady Raiders Basketball Coach Steps Down

  • Wednesday, March 2, 2016
Cleveland High School Lady Raiders head basketball coach Mindy Kiser has resigned her coaching position after five years with the program.  Coach Kiser will remain at Cleveland High School as a teacher and assistant athletic director with a focus on academic intervention for student athletes and athletic event operations.

Principal Autumn O’Bryan said, “Mindy Kiser has spent the past several years working tirelessly for our student athletes as assistant athletic director and girls basketball coach.  I have admired her leadership through the adversity of closing the Dome and starting construction of Raider Arena.  She has a passion for her players and the game of basketball and will continue to lead through athletic administration.”

Coach Kiser stated, “The landscape of high school athletics and the coaching profession is rapidly changing.  What is required and needed to coach today is not quite what it was just several short years ago.
It is a business that requires a high level of commitment, courage, and support to withstand the seasons.  It is time someone new take over the Lady Raider basketball program.”

Coach Kiser also stated, “After coaching the sport I love dearly for 15 years, it is time I commit more energy and passion to the students I teach every day in the classrooms at CHS.  I am anxious to see what advancements and opportunities the next couple of years hold for our students.”

CHS Athletic Director, Eric Phillips said, “Mindy Kiser works as hard as any coach I have ever known. She has worked tirelessly to give her athletes instruction, mentoring, and opportunities to be great competitors and young ladies. Additionally, she gave our school and community a program to be proud because of the way that they have competed and battled with tremendous effort, heart, and sportsmanship. I look forward to watching her continue to help our school, students, and coaches strive for excellence.”

Coach Kiser said she is excited about the new arena set to open in April 2016.  “As our community opens a new facility, Raider Arena. She said, "I can say there is not a more deserving group of student athletes and coaches than the Lady Raiders and Blue Raiders basketball programs to have this new place to call home.”
