Rodney Maurice Hill,
Rodney Maurice Hill, charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, was arrested Wednesday night and released on $15,000 bond. His court date is March 22 in East Ridge City Court.
The 48-year-old Hill, of Highland Park Avenue in Chattanooga, had been charged in a fatal hit and run that occurred last Dec. 26 in East Ridge.
Darrell Lee Carter was walking eastbound on Ringgold Road on the morning of Dec. 26. He was crossing Ringgold Road at Blackhawk Trail when he was struck from behind.
The vehicle that struck him was determined to be a 2013 to 2015 Nissan Sentra.
Two days later, a 2015 Nissan Sentra was found in the possession of Hill in Fort Oglethorpe. He had reported to Fort Oglethorpe Police that he struck a deer.
The Nissan Sentra was sent to the TBI Crime Lab in Nashville and found to be a match with the suspect vehicle.
A warrant was issued for Hill through the East Ridge City Court, and he was arrested on Wednesday night.
He was released on a $15,000 bond.
Hill is due to appear in East Ridge Court next Tuesday night.
