Three people have picked up papers to run in the Cleveland City Council District 3 race for a seat that is being vacated by Avery Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is going against another council veteran, Vice Chairman George Poe, for an at-large seat.
The election is Aug. 4. The qualifying deadline is April 7.
Picking up for District 3 were Larry Bryant, Tom Cassada and Michael Plumlee.
District 4 Councilman David May and District 5 Councilman Dale Hughes have picked up to seek new terms.
Mary Baier picked up for District 5.
Jonathan Porter picked up both for at-large and for District 5. He will have to make a choice prior to the qualifying deadline.
Those whose seats are not up include longtime Mayor Tom Rowland and Councilmen Charlie McKenzie, Bill Estes and Richard Banks.
For the Cleveland School Board, Gary Dustin Elliott picked up for an at-large seat as did incumbent Steve Morgan and Timothy Raider.
George Meacham is seeking another term in District 1.
No one has yet picked up for District 2 on the seat now held by Murl Dirksen.
On the County School Board, four incumbents are getting back into the fray - Chris Turner in District 1, Nicholas Lillios in District 3, Amanda Lee in District 6 and Charlie Rose in District 7.
Mr. Turner may have opposition from Nancy Carson and Mr. Lillios from Melvin "Teddy" Bryson.
Rodney Dillard picked up for District 5.
Charlie Rose may be opposed by Jerry Frazier.
