A Soddy Daisy man who served time in prison for a 2007 vehicular homicide that left one person dead and two others permanently disabled has been arrested once in 2014, nine times last year and was charged with multiple new offenses on Thursday.
Chattanooga Police arrested Steven Tyler Frizzell, 29, for possessing heroin, meth, syringe needles and firearms.
At 12:30 a.m. an officer pulled over Frizzell in the 5400 block of Highway 153 for having a headlight out.
A NCIC search by the officer revealed Frizzell’s recent drug charges. The officer made Frizzell exit the Nissan Maxima and performed a routine pat down. When the officer asked to search the vehicle, Frizzell refused.
According to the police report, a Chattanooga Police Narcotic K9 came on the scene and “hit on the vehicle.” This triggered police to conduct a search inside Frizzell’s car. They found three syringe needles, a scale, and a hi-point 9MM pistol in the center console.
Police also found a pill bottle for teething pills that Frizzell said he used for cutting heroin. They then uncovered 1.7 grams of heroin and a black BB handgun in the car.
Frizzell was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail where a bag of meth was found in his sock during a strip search.
He faces multiple charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin/meth for resale, possession of firearm in commission of felony, and obstruction of justice for attempting to hinder the discovery of the meth in his sock.
Authorities placed Frizzell on a $70,000 bond.
Don Poole, in sentencing Frizzell to eight years in prison in 2009, said he hoped he would turn his life around.
Frizzell was the driver of a Ford Taurus that went out of control on Memorial Day 2007 on Old Hixson Pike. Robert Frizzell, 72, was dead at the scene. His wife, Joann Frizzell, was seriously injured in the wreck as was family friend, Ruby Arnold.
Frizzell did his time in prison, then his name once again began appearing on the criminal dockets.
