Fat Boys Roadside Eats Is Food Truck Heaven

Fat Boys Roadside Eats.  Bill Reed Road at Standifer Gap.

My friend Michelle and I were running the roads all day today and not much of it turned out to be productive, not for lack of trying.  We figured we needed to eat and maybe change our karma a bit. We had talked about lunching earlier in the day, she craving BBQ and I was craving tacos.

On our way to our second unsuccessful errand we passed a food truck, "Fat Boys Roadside Eats" which had a sign "BBQ, Tacos, Burgers". I knew we were nowhere near Petunias for their fish tacos, so we said let's just stop here.

Michelle had been craving BBQ and was perusing that part of the menu when she spotted the BBQ potato.

I ordered the tacos - three for $6.99.  You have your choice of steak, ground beef or chicken.  I was curious and asked if I could have one of each and was told, "of course," so that was my order.

Our orders were in so we grabbed a picnic table they have set up under a cover with a nice mellow runner in the middle held down by some interesting stones.  We chatted and watched a tiny bee (sweat bee by the wiggle of its butt?) return again and again to the vase of flowers on our table, amusing us by the fact that the bee didn't realize that the flowers weren't real (though there were very real looking) when our orders arrived.

Michelle's potato was massive and loaded down with BBQ and bits. She enjoyed it thoroughly as she was very quiet eating it.

My tacos were in a warm, soft corn tortilla - my favorite. One loaded with a nice moist steak, one with a juicy smoky flavored chicken and one loaded down with a flavorful ground beef.  They were quite full and drizzled atop with a wonderfully garlic aioli. They were also accompanied with red salsa, salsa verde and sour cream.  Fantastic!

More than halfway through our lunch we agreed that, while we were both getting full, there was no way we were going to leave a spec on our plates, and we did not.

Hoping to get back to Fat Boys soon.   Very, very soon.

I give it a 12.  On a scale of 1-5.
