Russell Kompinski
Russell Kompinski, 52, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly punching a man through the window of his Porsche, followed by striking the man’s Porsche with his pickup truck while attempting to leave the scene.
The victim, Daniel Baxter, was reportedly inside his vehicle that evening at the 58 Mart on Highway 58 when Kompinski struck him. He was parked in the parking lot with his girlfriend Kelci Griffith after completing a child exchange with Ms. Griffith’s mother.
The officers on patrol stated they believed Kompinski struck the Baxter vehicle on purpose, causing him to be afraid of bodily injury.
Kompinski admitted to police that he confronted Baxter when he saw him at the 58 Mart and said he was angry because Baxter owed him $320.
Baxter allegedly did detailing work on the Kompinski truck about a year ago in exchange for the tires Kompinski installed on Baxter’s car. The money Kompinski confronted Baxter about was for the installation of the tires, Baxter told police.
He said he had been outside of his car, but got inside when Kompinski encountered him. Kompinski reached into the rolled-down window, struck Mr. Baxter’s head, and shoved him into the car.
The defendant said he struck the victim through his car window because he believed he had a weapon.
Baxter allegedly spit on Kompinski during the confrontation.
He called 911 after the defendant struck his head and pulled behind his parked truck to block him from leaving the scene before police arrived.
The defendant then rammed the victim’s vehicle by backing up, and he fled the scene.
Kompinski said this was not on purpose, that he could not see the victim’s small car behind his bigger pickup truck.
Baxter was the only one in the car at the time of the assault. The damage to the Baxter Porsche Boxter amounts to more than $1,000.
No observable damage occurred to the defendant’s Dodge Ram.
Kompinski was arrested that night at his residence on Pardill Lane on charges of aggravated assault, extortion, and felony vandalism.
