Hamilton County Prosecutor Boyd Patterson said Monday he is officially joining the race for Criminal Court Judge. The former Gang Task Force coordinator and delinquent youth counselor will participate in the Criminal Court Judge Debate at the Pachyderm Club at noon.

His campaign said, "Having more than 25 years of study and experience in the legal and psychology fields gives Mr. Patterson a unique perspective on criminal justice. His work with the Gang Task Force focused on both crime suppression and community collaboration to keep at-risk youth and adults out of the court system."

Jay Hudson, treasurer for the Committee to Elect Boyd Patterson, said, “Boyd’s extensive criminal trial experience, scholarly legal publications and years of public service make him uniquely qualified to continue serving the residents of Hamilton County. I am proud to support Boyd Patterson for Criminal Court Judge.”

Mr. Patterson said he believes that "tremendous opportunities exist to positively impact our community as Criminal Court judge. I want voters to know that I am committed to making a difference and will work for the people to ensure our criminal court system is fair and efficient.”

He and his wife Nancy met while both were students at UTC. They have been married for 21 years and have two children. The family lives in Hixson and belongs to St. Jude Church.

The primary election for Criminal Court judge is March 1. Early voting is Feb. 10-23.
