A release from Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said, "The City of Chattanooga has been hard at work, preparing our streets for this weekend's inclement weather. Here are the updates you need to know for streets within city limits:

  • Our Public Works crews are strategically stationed throughout Chattanooga to proactively treat roads, bridges, and overpasses that typically freeze over. In addition, crews will clear paths to ensure safe access of hospitals, firehalls, and other locations critical to emergency services.
  • Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Fire Department, and Public Works will be monitoring conditions throughout the night and into tomorrow(Saturday). Public Works crews will be treating additional roads as they identify icy patches.
  • In addition to keeping our streets safe for those who need to travel, our first responders are proactively reaching out to our homeless individuals to communicate options available during cold weather. The Community Kitchen and Salvation Army both operate cold weather shelters and the City's homeless program coordinator, Heather, will be on call to offer additional assistance.  If you know someone who is homeless and needs transportation to a shelter, please contact CPD at 423-698-2525. Our first responders are available to help.
