Bradley County Records 66 Wrecks On Icy Roads On Wednesday

  • Wednesday, January 20, 2016
Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson said early Wednesday afternoon that he is advising extreme caution on the roadways throughout Bradley County as the afternoon progresses into the evening hours. There had been 66 wrecks by shortly after 5 p.m.

Sheriff Watson said, "We have dealt with a large number of traffic crashes so far today, most of which are one vehicle accidents.  The snow that has fallen, although not a significant amount so far, is adding to the icy road conditions."

The Bradley County Sheriff's Office has activated all 4-wheel-drive vehicles in its fleet, the recently-created Public Safety Unit is fully-staffed as well.

Sheriff Watson said. "We ask that, if you must be out, to travel with caution, make sure your cell phones are charged and you have warm coats.  I realize these are common-sense things, but it doesn't hurt for any of us to be reminded."

Sheriff Watson said most all of the wrecks have been one-vehicle accidents due to the icy conditions.

He said, "If you must be out tonight...exercise extreme caution on the roads."

If you need assistance on the roadways anywhere in Bradley County, call 423-728-7311.
If you are in an emergency situation involving injury or a particularly serious accident, dial 911.
