Works written by Lee University students Anna Kholod, Sara Robertson and alumna Rachel Lesler will be published in the 2016 editions of Sigma Tau Delta’s Rectangle and Review.

“We are thrilled that our students have received this national recognition of their work,” said Dr. Kevin Brown, Lee professor of English and sponsor for Lee’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta. “This was a record year for us as far as having students accepted into the Sigma Tau Delta journals.  Their receiving such validation from outside readers helps them to understand the quality of work they are doing here at Lee.”

Ms. Kholod, a senior English writing major, had her poem “And Lead Us Not Into Temptation” accepted by the Rectangle.

“I wrote this poem as part of a final project for a class, but it was inspired by the contemporary issues, religious beliefs, and popular opinions I observed around me,” said Ms. Kholod. “My desire for this poem is to inspire a deeper understanding toward those facing issues and battles that we often refuse to acknowledge.”

Ms. Robertson, a senior English writing and psychology double major, had a creative nonfiction piece, “Nothing Happens in Chicago,” also published by the Rectangle.

Ms. Lesler, who graduated in May 2015 with an English Literature degree, had a critical article, “Trouthe or Illusion: Masculine Honor vs. Feminine Honor in ‘The Franklin’s Tale’” accepted to the Review. She is the first Lee student to be published in the Review. Her paper was written for Dr. Chad Schrock’s Chaucer class in spring 2015.

“I'm very excited to be published by the Review,” said Ms. Lesler. “It's a great honor to be recognized professionally for a paper that I worked hard on and of which I am very proud.”
