A man who was struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening while running along Moccasin Bend Road has died.
ZAP Fitness said on its Facebook page: All of us at ZAP are heartbroken. Today, former ZAP resident athlete Cameron Bean lost his life after being struck by a car while running Saturday evening. Cameron resided in Blowing Rock and was a ZAP team member from 2010-2015. He will be missed.
The company said he had gone for a run after working his shift on Saturday at Fast Break.
The company earlier posted, "Cameron went on a routine run where he was struck by a car and has suffered traumatic injuries. Details are limited, but in the meantime please keep the Bean family in your thoughts and prayers."
The woman driving the vehicle that struck the runner said she had been blinded by the sun and had gone off the roadway.
No charges have been filed thus far.
