City Chief Operating Officer Brent Goldberg Accepts A Top Position With Lesco Logistics

  • Friday, September 18, 2015
Brent Goldberg, chief operating officer (COO) for the city of Chattanooga, has accepted the position of vice president and chief financial officer of Lesco Logistics and Lync America.

Cindy Lee, president of Lesco Logistics, said, “Lesco Logistics is excited to have Brent join our leadership team. Adding someone of Brent’s caliber combined with his Chattanooga background is a great fit for us as a locally owned and operated company.

We look forward to Brent being an integral part of our continued growth.”

Mr. Goldberg has served in the Berke administration since June of 2013, first as deputy chief operating officer and then as chief operating officer starting in July of 2014.

Prior to his role at the city, he was the director of finance and operations at the Public Education Foundation and director of accounting at US Xpress.

Mayor Andy Berke said, “Since taking office, I have been committed to hiring smart, talented individuals to run city government. That means finding ways to ensure the most effective services at the best value to taxpayers, but it also means other companies and organizations quickly take notice. Having talented employees is a good problem to have and I’m thrilled for Brent’s new opportunity. He’s worked hard over the last few years and, if his past work is any indication, he will be an incredible asset for this growing and successful company.”

In his resignation letter, submitted to Mayor Berke on Sept. 1, Mr. Goldberg stated: “It was not an easy decision but I have an incredible and unexpected opportunity to assume a leadership role with a group of companies that have a rich history in our community...While I will miss serving in local government, I am excited about returning to the private sector to serve as a leader in the Chattanooga business community.”

Mr. Goldberg will transition to his new position on Oct. 1.

City Deputy COO David Carmody will act as interim COO until the position is filled.
