To mark the beginning of International Peace Month, House of Be publishers announces the official launch of Chattanooga "Be In The City" (www.BeInTheCity.com) a new local online magazine and blogging platform "Blogosphere" that partners with the global online publication, Gandhi's Be Magazine (www.BeMagazine.org). The platform is to inspire, empower, and activate people to "Be the Change" in their own lives and in their communities, starting in Chattanooga.

It all began six years ago, when Editor-in-Chief Missy Crutchfield and Executive Editor Melissa Turner teamed up to launch Gandhi's Be Magazine.  Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and partnering with his grandson Arun Gandhi, Gandhi's Be Magazine's mission is to inspire, empower, and activate people to "Be The Change" in their own lives and communities and to join with other people and nonviolent movements around the world becoming part of the story of change.

Since then, Gandhi's Be Magazine has covered stories of Changemakers around the world from the Gandhi Legacy Tour in India and the Visits of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Emory University to change-making events like the People's Climate March, Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, and Social Good Summit in New York City to global adventures like a Mount Everest Base Camp Trek and cultural tour of Kathmandu and surrounding regions in Nepal, to most recently, Ms. Crutchfield returned from the Gandhi Legacy Tour in South Africa.

Gandhi's Be Magazine, a partner of Chattanooga "Be In The City" has also been working globally on human rights events in the United States and abroad, including the Rabaa International Sit-in in Istanbul, Turkey and a video message at the Democracy, Human Rights in Egypt, and the Bloodshed in Gaza Forum at the Carter Center in Atlanta and most recently at Free Egypt forums at University of Bridgeport, Ct., in front of Fox News and Times Square in New York City, the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre in Jersey City, NJ, the Center for Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley, and Queen's Theatre in Queens, New York.

The launch of Chattanooga "Be In The City" completes the global-to-local "Ecosystem of Change" that has informed the editorial team in working on issues that impact human rights, environmental justice, and animal advocacy--moving toward "Healthy Mind, Body, Spirit, People, Planet + Pets" and embracing a mindset of "Think Global. Act Local."

During the month of August, House of Be publishers soft-launched Chattanooga "Be In The City," a new local online magazine and blogging platform celebrating socially-conscious and healthy lifestyles "Mind, Body, Spirit, People, Planet + Pets" including special features on "Fashion and Beauty From the Inside Out."  More information will be announced soon about parties and networking events coming this fall.

Chattanooga "Be In The City" is currently accepting submissions for news, upcoming events, and content from regular or occasional bloggers.

Ms. Crutchfield said, "We want to serve as a connector for people in Chattanooga to ways they can 'Be The Change' with their lives and in their communities. We feel we have this unique opportunity to create a virtual platform complete with stories, blogs, opportunities to take action, as well as link globally, so anywhere you go on our site you can find ways to be inspired, empowered, and activated to become part of the story of change that is unfolding in Chattanooga and rippling out around the world. We want to inspire this growing community of readers and contributors to become more engaged in their purpose and really tune-in to their inner 'global Changemaker'--we all have one inside.  This is a really exciting time now for Chattanooga and our global community.  There is a movement of change happening and people are awakening to a greater sense of purpose and are committed to making a difference in the world today so that our children and our children's children have a better world to inherit tomorrow.  I feel that part of my journey--personally and professionally-- is to help others connect to their purpose.  Let the change begin with us right here, right now.  Together we can all connect on Chattanooga 'Be In the City'."
