Hixson Home Damaged By Fire Friday Afternoon; Family Renting It Gets Out In Time

  • Friday, August 14, 2015

A home in Hixson was damaged by fire on Friday, and the family renting it was able to get out unharmed.

At 4:50 pm, Denise Seaton called 911 reporting her house was on fire at 1653 Lisa Lynn Dr.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded, reporting heavy smoke coming from the house. Firefighters quickly conducted an interior attack and noticed the fire had spread inside the walls from the main floor to the second floor. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 15 minutes and save the house from burning to the ground.

Ms. Seaton, a renter, reported smelling smoke throughout the house. While investigating to find the source, she saw heavy smoke coming from a ceiling fan and pouring through the vents in the dining room. She immediately alerted her family to evacuate the residence. No injuries were reported.

Dallas Bay fire officials reported the cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Damages are listed at $25,000.

The Seaton family will be staying with friends.
