Police Say Man Fell In Front Of CARTA Bus At Bus Stop; Driver Not Charged

Police said a man who was struck and killed by a CARTA bus near 5th and Market streets early Monday afternoon fell in front of the bus.

Thaddeus Dixson, 60, was seated at a bus stop in front of Family Dollar when the bus began to drive away.  He stood up and fell forward toward the street falling under the bus.  

Mr. Dixson suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Police blocked off traffic near the incident that happened at 12:21 p.m.

No charges will be filed against the bus driver.
