Paul Alexander Evans
Police have charged 21-year-old Paul Alexander Evans with assaulting his former girlfriend and stealing her car.
Evans, of 1118 Orange Wood Ave., is charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. Police also said he had violated an Order of Protection.
Red Bank Police responded to an apartment on W. Ridgewood Avenue early Friday morning. The ex-girlfriend said she had arrived home around 11:30 p.m. and locked her child in her vehicle while unlocking her apartment.
She said when she went back to get her child that Evans popped out of nearby bushes and began a confrontation. She said he wrestled with her and eventually threw her to the ground and took her house and car keys.
The woman said she had been able to unlock the vehicle prior to Evans approaching her.
She said she grabbed her child and they ran into the residence. She stated, “I tried to push the door shut and he kept pushing the door open.” She said she finally got the door locked and Evans used the keys and broke in.
She stated, “He kept asking me who I have been talking to and took my phone and threw it against the wall so I could not call police, while he ran outside and stole my vehicle."
The vehicle is a gold 1999 Lexus Rx300.
Police located the vehicle at Koch Foods in Chattanooga, where Evans works. It was at 19th Street and Read Avenue.
A Red Bank officer said Evans was disorderly after his arrest, striking the windows of his patrol car and cursing him.
He said the ex-girlfriend had marks on both of her legs along with bruises.
