Anderson, Hinton Acting Hastily - And Response

  • Wednesday, July 1, 2015
Here we go again - City Councilman Chris Anderson's hasty effort to establish city policy without public input and proper City Council procedures.  Well, sir, here is my input.

I object to the proposed ordinance crafted by Anderson/City Attorney Hinton unless a companion ordinance is prepared to protect the public from harassment by LGBTQ city employees.  That should give Councilmen Anderson and Freeman pause to consider who they work for before they go before the cameras or post their political fits to bring attention to themselves in an attempt to serve their own purposes.

Now, with all due respect, Attorney Hinton, do you see how ridiculous this entire exercise is?  I know citizens of both races who have strong views in agreement along these lines.

The issue at hand is a resolution, not an ordinance. The advance notice of the upcoming discussion is indicative of a process working as it should. There will be ample time to review it.

Quite honestly, the only "political fit" I see is the one pitched by Ms. Parton.
