Joy Sims, 84, of East Ridge, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Mrs. Sims was born in Lynch, Ky., and was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and belonged to the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Tyner High School Class of 1949 and Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in 1969 and retired from Parkridge Hospital after 18 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Tom Sims.

Surviving are her children, Richard Sims, William Sims, Rebecca Lackey and Robert Sims; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Opal Maggie Hyde; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, and 12-1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 8, at the funeral home with Reverend Steve Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
