LAUNCH Kinect To Kick Off This Summer

  • Friday, May 29, 2015

LAUNCH will hold its first annual summer camp, titled LAUNCH Kinect, a week of fun, entrepreneurship and networking for urban teen, from June 15-19.

LAUNCH Kinect will empower and grow students’ knowledge and connections throughout Chattanooga with the support of positive and influential local business leaders. This week-long intensive workshop will focus on additional entrepreneurial skills, going beyond LAUNCH’s High School Entrepreneurship Program that takes place in select schools each year.

During this week, 25 students from The Howard School, Brainerd High School and Tyner Academy will be equipped with the tools and connections needed to manage, brand, and grow their business. Topics covered, with the help of sponsors and business professionals who have graciously volunteered their time, will include customer service, finance, professionalism, branding and marketing. The Chattanooga Public Library will serve as LAUNCH Kinect’s central location, and students will branch out into the city, visiting several business locations throughout the week.

LAUNCH Kinect is free for the students who are participating. In addition, there will be two opportunities for the public to attend. The first will be the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Monday, June 15, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The second will be at the end of the week on Friday, June 19, when there will be a Pitch Competition and Closing Ceremony event taking place from 1:15-3:30 p.m. Both of these events are free of charge, and will take place on the fourth floor of the Chattanooga Public Library.

Founded in 2011, LAUNCH offers business training, support, and affordable resources to adult and youth entrepreneurs, empowering them to create sustainable, successful businesses to support themselves and their families.
