Dobson, Georgia Day (South Pittsburg)

Georgia  Day  Dobson,  92,  of  South  Pittsburg,  Tennessee and  formerly  of  LaFayette,  Georgia,  passed  away  peacefully on Tuesday,  May 26, 2015  with  her  children  by  her  side.

Georgia  was  preceded  in  death  by  her  husband,  Oliver  (Dobbie)  Dobson; and  parents,  Luther  and  Mollie  Day.

Georgia,  known  to  many  as  “Mammy”,  enjoyed  life  and  friends.  She  and  her  husband  of  41  years  owned  and  operated  Dobbie’s  Super  Market  and  Georgia’s  Beauty  Shop  in  LaFayette.  She  was  a  member  of  the  First  Baptist  Church  of  Fort  Oglethorpe,  GA,  where  she  was  an  active  member  of  her  Sunday  School  Class.  She  also  served  as  a  member  of  the  Auxiliary Gray  Ladies  team  of  Hutcheson  Medical  Center  for  many  years.  Everyone  loved  and  enjoyed  her  homemade  fudge  and  pies.

She  is  survived  by  her  three  children,  Sandra  (LaMont)  Ramage  of  Buda,  TX,  Gail  (Randall)  Walker  of  LaFayette and  Tommy  (Sissy)  Dobson  of  Kimball,  TN;  seven  grandchildren,  Lucinda  (Brian)  Doyle  and  Monty  Ramage  of  Buda,  TX,  Randy  Walker  of  LaFayette,  Wendy  and  (Kris)  Doyle  of  Sewanee,  GA,  Amy  (Randall)  Parker,  AbbyGail  (Travis)  Shields  and  Josh  Dobson  of  Jasper,  TN;  great-grandchildren,  Matthew  (Dana)  Doyle,  Jessica  Doyle,  Trace  Walker,  Ryan  Doyle,  Megan  (James)  Cooper,  Andrew  Parker,  Luke  Dobson and  Emma  Claire  Dobson; and  great-great-grandchildren,  Ella  Cooper  and  Lilly  Parker.

The  family  would  also  like  to  thank  the  staff  of  the  Hospice  of  Chattanooga  for  their  excellent  care  and  loving  kindness  shown.  They  would  also  like  to  thank  Georgia’s  good  neighbors  Barbara  and  Tom  for  their  continued  love  and  support  through  the  years.

Funeral will be from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Friday,  May 29  at  1 p.m. Interment will follow in  the  LaFayette  Memory  Gardens.

Family  will  receive  friends  at  the  funeral  home  Thursday, May 28 from  6-8 p.m.

Arrangements  are  by  Wallis-Wilbanks  Funeral  Home,  LaFayette.
