Vote for Chattanooga Best Outdoor Town Ever!
Chattanooga beat out Roanoke, Raleigh-Durham and Beaufort in the first three rounds of voting in Outside Magazine's Best Town Ever contest. We've made it to the elite 8.
Round 4 vote is going on now and we're up against Boone, NC. We know we're the best town ever, but let's make it official! Go VOTE once a day.

Outdoor Chattanooga Featured Event
Downtown Bicycle Tour with Chattanooga History Center May 21
Outdoor Chattanooga and the Chattanooga History Center will host a guided bicycle tour along the Tennessee Riverwalk on May 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We will ride from Outdoor Chattanooga at Coolidge Park to South Chickamauga Creek and back (9 miles round-trip). Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Call the Chattanooga History Center to register at (423) 265-3247. Cost is $10 per person ($5 for CHC members). Registration deadline is Wed. May 20th and is open to adults and kids 15 and up when accompanied by an adult. BYO-Bicycle or borrow a bicycle from Outdoor Chattanooga. Rapid Learning at Chester Frost Park Tonight, Wed., May 20

The Rapid Learning Whitewater Kayaking Program will be at Chester Frost County Park on Wed., May 20, with two sessions: 6 and 7 p.m., just past the park swimming area. Interested members of the public can come to either session and try the program for free. If you decide to continue, you can join the program and access equipment and instruction all year round. *Stringers Ridge Family Pump Track Day June 2
Bring the kids and participate in our Stringers Ridge Family Pump Track Fun Day, happening Tues., June 2, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the Spears Ave. trailhead of Stringers Ridge Park. Outdoor Chattanooga staff will work with the whole family to learn and practice riding the pump track. The skills learned will help riders have fun and ride more safely on area mountain bike trails. *Volkswagen USA Cycling Pro Road and Time Trial National ChampionshipsMay 23-25 
The pro's are back in Chattanooga for the third-consecutive year to compete in the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road & Time Trial National Championships May 23-25Time Trials happen on Sat. May 23 at the Volkswagen Chattanooga Plant at Enterprise South beginning  at 8 a.m. The pro road races will happen on Memorial Day, May 25 in downtown Chattanooga. The start/finish line is at M.L. King Blvd. and Market St. The Women's race starts at 9 a.m. and the Men race at 1:30 p.m. Race start times along with the road race course map and the time trials course map can be found on the USA Cycling website.

*U.S. Hand Cycling Criterium Championships May 25
The best show on recumbent bicycles happens on Mon., May 25, 12:30 p.m. on the downtown portion of the pro cycling road race course when the U.S. Hand Cycling Federation hosts their Criterium National Championships. Think NASCAR on recumbent bicycles. It's an amazing show from incredible athletes, many of whom are Para Olympians and wounded warriors.
*U.S. Hand Cycling Time Trial National Championships May 24
The world's best para Olympians will compete against the clock during the U.S. Hand Cycling Time Trials National Championship. Racing starts at 8 a.m. in front of the Volkswagen Chattanooga Plant in Enterprise South. 

*United Healthcare Kids Bicycle Race May 25
USA Cycling and Outdoor Chattanooga will co-host the United Healthcare Kids Bicycle Race on Mon., May 25 (Memorial Day), 3 p.m., at the start/finish area of the Pro Road Race Championships, M.L. King Blvd. and Market St. Categories are open for kids ages 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Limit is 30 kids per category so sign up early. No early registration after Fri., May 22 at 5 p.m.Register on the day of the race at the Outdoor Chattanooga tent in the downtown race Expo (Google Map) by 12 noon. First come, first served. All registrants should check in at the Outdoor Chattanooga tent by 2 p.m. to get a race number, t-shirt and medal.
*Free 24-hour Bike Chattanooga Memberships on May 25 
Volkswagen of America has partnered with Bike Chattanooga and the City of Chattanooga to sponsor a free 24 hour memberships to Bike Chattanooga, all day on May 25. Sign up at any Bike Chattanooga station.

*TN Valley Canoe Club Paddle School May 29-31
TVCC will host their annual paddle school Sat., May 30 and Sun., May 31. The two day paddle school is for whitewater and flatwater paddlers looking for formal instruction to improve their skills. The courses are designed for everyone, from first timers who have never been in a boat to intermediate paddlers. The weekend kicks off with the Paddlers Reception on Fri. evening (May 29with check in, a welcome dinner, and boat outfitting tent. The rest of the weekend is spent on the water learning to paddle. Saturday evening's highlights include the annual TVCC joust tournament and gear auction. Late registration closes this week.
