The Lee University Chamber Strings
The Lee University Chamber Strings will present a concert on Thursday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.
The concert, titled “Spring Virtuosi,” will showcase pop tunes, music for the big screen, and chamber music from Mozart to Mendelssohn, including Mendelssohn’s Octet. Soloists for the concert include Man-Ling Bai, piano; Mia Campbell, flute; Haeun Song, violin; and violist Lacey Thwing, among others.
“The concert will also feature a mysterious conductor from the audience and a few eccentric percussionists,” said Xiaoqing Yu, associate professor of music and director of Chamber Strings.
Chamber Strings is an ensemble composed of the university’s finest violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists, presenting diverse performances both on and off campus, said officials.
“It has always been my dream to perform Mendelssohn’s Octet with Lee students,” said Mr. Yu. “The young and young at heart should join us to see how Chamber Strings presents an evening of phenomenal music for their entertainment.”
The concert is free of charge and open to the public. All are invited to a reception immediately following the concert. Pangle Hall is located on the corner of Central and Church streets in downtown Cleveland.
