Cleveland Police Department Investigates Car Burglaries

  • Tuesday, March 10, 2015

The Cleveland Police Department is investigating several car burglaries, which might be related.

Last Wednesday, Cleveland Police Department Officer Chris Allen responded to Jordan's BBQ on Stuart Road on an auto burglary. The victim, Jackie Lay, said he parked his vehicle at Jordan's at 4 p.m. and at 4:27 p.m. he heard his car alarm sound.

Mr. Lay went outside to check on his vehicle and discovered the rear passenger side window had been busted out. Mr. Lay's Star 9MM handgun, which was hidden in the center console of the vehicle, was stolen. There were several other valuable items which were left in plain view that the suspect left behind.

Witnesses said they observed a silver four-door SUV parked beside the victim's vehicle. Investigators are looking for information on the occupants of that vehicle. Police are also looking for the man pictured for questioning regarding this theft. Anyone with information pertaining to this vehicle and/or pictured male is urged to contact Detective Matt Jenkins at 423 303-3134.

The information is from one theft that has occurred within the past week regarding auto burglary, in which weapons are being specifically targeted.

However, several other car burglaries have been reported as well. Two car burglaries were committed in the Whirlpool parking lots on Benton Pike and King Edward Avenue.

Anyone with information on these specific thefts is asked to contact Detective Bill Parks at 423 559-3321.
