A 29-year-old Chattanooga woman is charged with trying to run over a police officer, then fighting with officers who tried to take her into custody.

Police said they had to use a stun gun twice on Nakara S. Jackson.

Ms. Jackson, of 725 Larkin Dr., is charged with attempted vehicular homicide. Other charges are DUI, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving left of the center line, not having insurance, light law violation, implied consent violation, resisting arrest, escape and failing to exercise due care.

In the incident early Monday morning, police said Ms. Jackson drove up behind them in a 2007 white Dodge Ram on Bonny Oaks Drive near Highway 153 after they had another vehicle stopped on a possible DUI.

Police said she later sped off and drove toward the officer near the Highway 153 ramp.  He had to jump out of the way.

Officers followed the Dodge Ram to a home on Shoreline Drive, where Ms. Jackson went inside. Police said she tried to grab an officer's gun while resisting being taken into custody. A stun gun was used by one officer, while another handcuffed her.

Afterward, Ms. Jackson was able to get out of a patrol car and run into a nearby yard. The stun gun was used again to restrain her.
