The Bradley County Commission on Monday discussed the ongoing problem of members of the fire department leaving for higher-paying jobs.
The fire chief announced that two more employees had left during the past week.
It was described as a "drain of trained people going to other places." During previous meetings, it was observed that the county pays to train these employees but has been unable to keep them longterm.
Commissioner Bill Winters said, "It bothers me that young men and women in this field...can't provide for their family."
He said that many of the people he has spoken with expressed the desire to stay.
The commission will continue to search for a solution to this issue.
The next meeting will be held on Monday at 7 p.m.
