Ida Mae Thompson
Ida Mae Thompson, 84, died on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in West Point, Georgia to the late Rufus and Mozelle Anderson. She moved to Chattanooga at an early age and attended Chattanooga public schools. Ida retired from Planters after 20+ years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of First Baptist of Avondale until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles W. Thompson; parents, Rufus and Mozelle Anderson; son, Robert; sister, Mary Ruth Anderson.
Loving and wonderful memories will be cherished by daughters, Sharon Parks, Gloria Parks, Carolyn (Bishop Mark) Sandilands, Rhonda Jackson, Pamela Jackson and Cynthia Thompson, all of Chattanooga; sons, Michael (Betty) Thompson of Chattanooga; Charles (Sharon) Thompson, New Port News, VA; Kenneth Thompson, Chattanooga; brother, Alonza Anderson, Chattanooga; sisters, Minnie Wilkerson, Brooklyn, NY; Sylvia Leslie and Valerie Anderson, both of Chattanooga; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
The celebration of life service will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 4, at Resurrected Baptist Church, 2230 East 18th Street with Elder Eddie D. Jacks officiating and Elder Eddie Jacks of Galilee Baptist Church delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 3, from 12–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
