William Alvis “Billy” Blaylock, 78, peacefully died on December 7, 2015.    

He was born on November 30, 1937 in Chattanooga. He attended Chattanooga Public Schools and was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1963 – 1969.

Billy retired from Tennessee Valley Authority in 1991 after 25 years of service. He was also employed at the Honors Golf Course for 12 years and was an avid member of the Couple’s Club.

Billy was a kind, loving and caring person and a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Seay; father, William J. Jones; sisters, Ronnie Faye Seay and Sylvia Jones; brother, William Jones, Jr.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Veronica “Bonnie” Blaylock; son, Jeffrey Blaylock; daughter, Carmen (Eric) Smith; grandson, Quinn Smith of Lithonia, GA; sisters, Patricia Blaylock, Jacquelin (Jimmy) Tankersley, Beverly (Mike) McKeldin and Renee Ramsey, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Roland, Horace, Donald, Ronald, Hebert Jones, Reginald (Alfreda) Jones, David (Sara) Jones, Charles and Sidney Blaylock, Los Angeles, CA and Clarence Seay of Chattanooga, TN; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Joan) Taylor, Charlotte, NC; Michael (Monica) Taylor, and Kenneth (Deborah) Taylor; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Robert) Adams, Sandra (Edward) Hines, Leonetta (Donald) Jamison and Brenda Taylor; several nieces, nephews, great-niece; a special aunt and uncle, Lewis and Clara Mae Lowe; special friends, Gene Ragsdale, James and Hazel Bowels, Linda Bonner, Kitty Williams, The Hayes Family, Jerome and Tina White.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 14, at New Covenant Fellowship Church with Pastor Bernie Miller officiating and Reverend Calvin Jackson, Eulogist. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens – East. 

The body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, Dec. 13, and the family will receive friends from 5–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
