Shots Fired Call On Cummings Highway Leads To An Arrest And Drugs Seized

  • Thursday, December 10, 2015

Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies responded to 2531 Cummings Highway, Apartment #14, on a report of shots fired on Wednesday at approximately 11 a.m.

The dispatcher advised authorities that a black male, who fired the weapon, was also seen putting a backpack in the rear of a vehicle.

Chattanooga Police officers arrived on the scene first and detained Randy Williams, who was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun.

Williams stated several parties were vandalizing his girlfriend’s vehicle with a lug wrench.

Williams further stated one of the females came in his direction aggressively with the lug wrench. At that point, Williams stated he fired his gun in the air. The area in question was a residential and business area.

While investigating the incident, a strong smell of marijuana was emanating from Williams' vehicle and authorities asked for consent to search his vehicle at which time he declined. HCSO K-9 deputies then responded to the scene and after a search of Williams' vehicle, marijuana, digital scales, several rolled marijuana joints, freezer bags, and a semi-automatic pistol magazine were found.

Williams’ vehicle was seized along with a sizable amount of cash and a handgun. Williams was taken into custody and was charged with several felonies.

No further information is available at this time.
