Sleep Health Open House Will Be Held Nov. 17 At Lunn Dentistry

  • Friday, November 6, 2015

Lunn Dentistry is hosting a Sleep Health Open House on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 6-8 p.m., at 5323 Brainerd Road, Suite 106, to celebrate Sleep Health Month.  During this meet and greet, attendees will be able to discuss their sleep health concerns with the dentists and team members of Lunn Dentistry. Refreshments, door prizes, and information will be available.

Officials said, "Just as exercise and nutrition are essential for optimum health and happiness, so too is sleep. Sleep is very much like eating. When you are hungry you eat. When you are tired you rest. By eating, you are relieving hunger. By sleeping, you are relieving fatigue and restoring optimal brain function. The quality of sleep is important as well. Interrupted sleep does not promote restorative sleep.

"Understanding the importance of sleep and why you need proper rest to maintain your lifestyle is the first step in adopting, maintaining, and prioritizing a healthy sleep schedule necessary to protect your overall health.

"If you have been diagnosed by a physician with obstructive sleep apnea, you may have been prescribed a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine (CPAP).  Over 50% of patients who have been prescribed a CPAP do not use as directed.

"Oral Appliance Therapy can be a comfortable, dental alternative, as well as a complementary treatment for patients diagnosed with mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea."

Drs. Riley and Angela Lunn will be presenting information about sleep disorders, specifically Obstructive Sleep Airway and the serious health risk associated with disordered sleep. "Our goal is to inform patients about the necessity of quality restorative sleep and to provide hope and encouragement through discussion, treatment options, and common sense practices designed to help you sleep better," organizers said.
