Terry Maddox, 31, was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly slashed a car tire, smashed the front windshield, and threatened a man with a baseball bat and knife who shot a gun in the air to defend himself.

Witnesses told officers that the defendant had been asked to leave Mary’s Lounge at 2125 McCallie Ave. because he had a knife with him in the club.

A witness who refused to give his information told officers that he saw Maddox exit the club, slash a tire on a red Saab and bust the front windshield.

The owner of the car said that she did not see him damage the car, but did see him standing next to her vehicle with the knife and bat.

Additionally, the victim who initially contacted police said that the suspect then walked around to the back of the club where he was and threatened him with the weapons. The victim said that he was in fear of his life and pulled out a firearm to defend himself.

He said that he could not bring himself to shoot the defendant so he shot several rounds into the air to make the suspect leave him alone.

He then followed the defendant toward Parkridge Hospital where he encountered an officer and told him what had happened.

Maddox is being held on a $70,000 bond for aggravated assault.
