Gus Hawkins
Gus Roy Hawkins, 31, was arrested Wednesday night at a Cleveland car wash. He was wanted in the murder of Tyler Worth.
Bradley County Sheriff's Office detectives responded to the car wash on Stuart Road in reference to Hawkins making threats and showing a gun to citizens.
The BCSO took Gus Hawkins into custody and took a loaded gun from his waistband. The Cleveland Police Department transported him to jail.
Sheriff Watson said, "We are glad he is behind bars and caught.
We could easily be working another murder with him on the streets and making threats to local citizens with a loaded gun"
Hawkins was arrested for accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, and tampering with evidence.
On Oct. 15, the Cleveland Police Department received a missing person report from the father of Tyler Andrew Worth. The father said he had not heard from his son since Oct. 11. After receiving information about the disappearance of Mr. Worth, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office made contact with individuals who provided information that led to more interviews.
At that point, the situation turned from a missing persons case to a homicide. Bradley County and Cleveland Police investigators then got together to follow leads and conduct interviews.
It was determined Mr. Worth was picked up at an area off Green Drive, then transported to a location on Hughes Lake Road, where he was shot three times in the back as he ran by Jody Hughes.
Mr. Worth’s body was then transported in a tarpaulin to an area near Lead Mine Valley Road, then was transported to a rural area in Polk County where his body was deposited into a ravine in the far eastern part of the county. After following leads, Mr. Worth’s body was recovered Saturday in Polk County.
