Raymond Witcher
Raymond Witcher, 36, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault after he allegedly assaulted his wife numerous times, at least once in front of their 11-year-old daughter.
When officers arrived at the 800 block of W. 14th Street, they spoke with the victim, Mary Smith, 34, who said that the defendant has been assaulting her since Friday when he began demanding money from her.
She said that when he went to work on Sunday, she locked the door behind him and would not let him in when he got off work. He allegedly arrived at the home and began beating on the door for two hours until she finally let him in.
Once inside, he allegedly started assaulting her again. The victim told officers that he also assaulted her on Sunday which is the incident that initiated the call on Sunday.
The victim also said that she slept with her daughter on the couch so that she could protect her child while the defendant slept on a bed elsewhere.
During the alleged assault that occurred on Sunday, she said that he grabbed her arm and shoved her into a wall before attempting to strangle her. The officers noted extensive bruising and redness on the victim’s arm and neck.
The daughter also stated to officers that “Daddy did a bad thing to Mommy.”
Given these testimonies, officers arrested Witcher and placed him onto the Chattanooga Housing Authority’s criminal trespassing list for the victim’s safety.
