DesJarlais Votes For Jim Jordan Of Ohio For Speaker Of House Of Representatives

  • Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Congressman Scott DesJarlais released the following statement after voting for Congressman Jim Jordan (OH-04) for speaker of the United States House of Representatives:

“My office has received thousands of calls from Tennesseans who believe Republicans need new leadership in the House of Representatives. When I ran for office I pledged I would always listen to my constituents and vote the interests of my district. Today’s vote maintains that promise. Speaker Boehner has certainly accomplished a lot during his tenure and I am thankful for his leadership these past few years.

However, I join my constituents in their belief that we need a new direction and a fresh approach. I have worked extensively with my friend, Congressman Jordan, during my time at the House Oversight Committee and have always been impressed by his steadfast commitment to conservative principles and to holding the White House accountable for its actions.”
