Park To Close Long Hollow Road Extension

  • Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is advising the permanent closure of the Long Hollow Road Extension starting March 24.  This access point into Chickamauga Battlefield is located directly west of the Wilder Brigade Monument.

The closure will help protect the commemorative monuments that line the roadway, eliminate one non-gated railroad crossing and will help park staff protect cultural resources and visitors to the Wilder Brigade Monument, said officials.  Other nearby roads that enter the National Military Park will continue to provide multiple points of access to the public.

The park superintendent will accept public comments until March 17.  Send written comments to the following address:  Chickamauga & Chattanooga NMP, PO Box 2128, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742, Attn: Superintendent, RE: Road Closure.

For more information about this road closure, please contact Chief Ranger Todd Roeder at 423-752-5213 X 119
